Week 22
Monday—I did homework and my gf also visited.
Tuesday—At Intro to Theological Reflection, we talked about the Trinity, and I completely understood the Most Holy Blessed Trinity (Sarcasm). However, I learned not only how central the Trinity is in Christianity (duh) but how truly transformative believing in a triune God is. The communal and loving aspect of the Trinity should be reflected in how we live our lives. If we neglect the Trinity in our theology and practice, then we will get distortions in our theology and practices which will become toxic and nonlife giving.
At Theopoetics, Preaching, & Society, we went over our exegetical process reports in preparation for our sermons next week.
I then took my gf to her house and worked on homework.
Wednesday—I did work for my work study jobs and homework.
Thursday—At Theopoetics 1, we talked more about what Theopoetics is. It helps us to expand, imagine, awaken, and be inclusive with our conversations about God. Again, we talked about how we are not poeticizing doctrine, but one of my classmates mentioned that it felt like the discussion was leading towards the idea of “dogma of non-dogmatism.” My professor also brought up the second school of thought of theopoetics which is more classical in theology and philosophy. The point that I took away was that he is giving us tools and methodology in talking about God not just trying to win arguments. I am currently trying to draw from both schools of theopoetics and walk the line between poeticizing doctrine and the dogma of non-dogmatism because I would like to stay within the orthodox bounds but still push the boundaries. We then wrapped up the class by discussing Mary Oliver’s poem “Franz Marc's Blue Horses.”
Friday—I had a meeting with my professor on the research project I am assisting her on. Then I traveled to Columbus to have dinner with some friends who came back to Ohio for the weekend. .
Saturday—I met a friend at the Japanese Market Place for lunch. I then had the Young Adult Tanka meeting in the afternoon. The evening was spent having another dinner with some friends and chilling out.
Sunday—I worked on homework in the morning. In the afternoon my friend invited me to his Pinewood Derby event at Capital, so I attended. Another dinner with another friend and I wrapped up the weekend with DND with friends in the evening.
Prayers and thoughts are always appreciated for me as I continue my journey in higher education! Thank you for reading and have a blessed day!
