Week 24
Monday—I worked on homework and prepped for Lent.
Tuesday—At Intro to Theological Reflection, the discussion was over theodicy and what evil is. We focused a lot on racism, connected the cross to the lynching tree, and heard Billie Holiday sing “Strange Fruit.” It was very chilling.
At Preaching, Theopoetics, & Society, we also talked about racism. We had Rev. Dr. Lisa Thompson be a guest speaker; we are also reading one of her books for class.
During the evening, I went to Roscoe’s and played in a Euchre tournament which was a fun way to spend Shrove Tuesday.
Wednesday—I worked on homework and went on a walk through the Earlham Cemetery with my roommates. It was fitting as it was Ash Wednesday. I went to get my ashes that evening with my roommate.
Thursday—At Theopoetics one, we finished our conversations about Winman and moved onto the book A God in the House: Poets Talk About Faith. This book is a collection of essays of several poets from various beliefs and tradition who talked about God, faith, and writing.
Friday—I had my meeting with my professor where I updated on the work I did for the research project. I then did outdoor Stations of the Cross with my girlfriend.
Saturday—I saw The Batman with my roommates. 9.5/10 would see again. The three hours really fly.
Sunday—Almost all of my plans were cancelled today. I managed to go to the Haiku Social Club meeting. The evening was capped with Bible Study.
My Lenten goals (besides keeping up with my regular devotions) are following St. Thomas Aquinas’ Lenten devotional, fasting, and writing a zuihitsu everyday. Pray for me during this Lent that I grow closer to God.
Prayers and thoughts are always appreciated for me as I continue my journey in higher education! Thank you for reading and have a blessed day!
