Week Five, week five—over a month in now and doing fine.
On Monday, I met with the RCIA director to go over logistics. I also got information for doing safety training with youth. Then on Monday night, I had my consciousness consumerism class.
Tuesday came and at Applied Storytelling, we talked about family origin stories and how fragile they are. It made me think of mine, and I realized that the Gutierrez family has been in America for almost 100 years. I now want to email all my family members and start writing our family story down. I also want to do this too for my maternal side.
Wednesday, I binged watched Star Wars: Visions. It’s Star Wars plus anime. I loved it.
Thursday morning, my roommates and I went grocery shopping. There was also a community fair at the Seminary where I won a door prize to some restaurants. That night at Poetry Writing, I emailed one of my fellow classmates about haibun which made me happy.
Friday, I had my first class of Science Fiction & Theology where we talked about Sci-Fi theory and Star Wars the whole time. Great class but it was seven hours on Friday, and then six hours on Saturday. Fun time but exhausting. I also have an idea for my research paper for that class involving Force Ghosts. The dialogue was great, and new perspectives were opened to me from those conversations. We looked at the embedded theology of Star Wars, and my favorite conversation was talking about the canon and comparing it to the Christian canon.
So, technically now, I have had one class for each of my courses.
Sunday, I relaxed and did errands. I decided that I am going to become a flexitarian which means that plants will be my primary food source. My goal is to keep meat consumption to Sunday and other special occasions. There are a variety of reasons why I decided to do this as I have been pondering it for a while. My first step was making a healthy snack; so, I made trail mix! I have raisins, pine nuts, peanuts, mini semi-sweet chocolate chips, sunflower seeds, and pistachios. Here’s a pic of it!
I am growing and trying new things with God. Please pray for me as I try to make my life more holistic and pray that I keep my healthy habits.
Your prayers have been much appreciated. Thank you for reading and have a blessed day!
I've become more of a flexitarian myself - mostly with fish on occasion. Your trail mix looks great!
